Biography

Alex has over 20 years’ experience in the patent profession as an in-house attorney at GSK and as a consultant at MSD, specialising in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications for small molecules, formulations, and pharmaceutical products.

Alex has acted before the EPO in Opposition and Appeal proceedings, and provided litigation support in the UK High Court and the German Federal Patents Court.

In addition to patent prosecution and litigation matters, Alex is experienced in the conducting of due diligence, preparation of freedom-to-use opinions, negotiating IP terms in consortium agreements, collaboration agreements, supply contracts, and acquisitions and has experience of German employee-inventor remuneration law.

Prior to joining the patent profession, Alex was an analytical chemist at AZ and GSK working on the development and validation of analytical methods for regulatory submissions.
